Since 1908, Nancy Klimp's family has been involved in the construction, ownership and management of rental properties in the San Francisco Bay Area and Southern California. They started by helping rebuild San Francisco shortly after the earthquake of 1906. For over thirty five years, John and Nancy Klimp have been principals of Mayfield Companies, comprised of Mayfield Investment Company, Inc., Orcal Management, Inc., Mayfield Management Company, Mayfield Construction Company, and 80 partnerships and investment ventures. Mayfield Companies have owned, managed and renovated in excess of 1,800 apartments and 475,000 square feet of office space. These holdings are valued at more than $230,000,000, with locations in the San Francisco Bay Area, the Portland, Oregon Metropolitan Area, and Seattle, Washington.

Today, John and Nancy Klimp and Mayfield Investment Company are the managing general partners of 17 partnerships and investment ventures doing business in California, Oregon, and Washington. Since 1972, John Klimp has raised approximately $53 million from more than 300 investors. Mayfield’s partners have received approximately $38 million in distributions from their investments as a result of sales, exchanges or cash flow from 56 properties during the past more than thirty five years. Properties have been owned for periods ranging between 8 months and 25 years. John and Nancy Klimp are major investors in every partnership and LLC organized by them.

Mayfield Management Company manages all properties that are owned by Mayfield Investment Company partnerships and investment ventures. This professional management firm administers the day-to-day operations of the properties and provides the accounting function for ownership and operation of the properties. Mayfield Management employs a complete leasing and management staff, in California, Oregon, and Washington, dedicated to the efficient management of all aspects of property operation. Mayfield Management also employs a maintenance staff with a full range of skills so that it can control the quality of work at all properties. In addition to properties owned by Mayfield partnerships and limited liability companies, Mayfield Management also provides management services for other property owners. John Klimp establishes overall operating policy including the guidelines for rental rates, operating expense levels, and capital improvements.

Since its beginning in 1986, Mayfield Construction Company has built and renovated multi family residential and tilt-up and high rise office projects in Oregon and Washington. The budgets of these jobs have ranged from $5,000 office tenant improvements to $10,000,000 in extensive renovations and new construction. Mayfield Construction Company is a full service company with the ability to take projects from concept, through plans and construction, to completion.

All partnership and Limited Liability Company business is conducted through Mayfield Investment Company, Inc.; Mayfield Management Company and Mayfield Construction Company are wholly owned by ORCAL Management, Inc. John and Nancy Klimp are Trustees of The Klimp Family Trust, which is the principal stockholder of both corporations.

Mayfield Management Company and Mayfield Construction Company, Orcal Management, Inc., and Mayfield Investment Company, Inc. maintain offices in Palo Alto, California, Portland, Oregon, and Seattle, Washington. The Palo Alto office is the principal place of business for Mayfield Companies.
