President - John Klimp

As President of Mayfield Companies, John Klimp establishes overall operating policy including guidelines for rental rates, operating expense levels, preventative maintenance schedules and capital improvements. A licensed real estate broker in California since 1975 and Oregon since 2004, he started as a member of the Palo Alto Real Estate Board in 1973. Mr. Klimp has been a licensed General Contractor in Oregon since 1987.

Born in the Netherlands and emigrated to the United States in 1957, Mr. Klimp received his BS in Electrical Engineering from Long Beach State University in 1968 and an MBA from the University of Santa Clara in 1974.

Mr. Klimp has been a participant in public forums representing the housing industry, Past President and Director of the Tri County Apartment Association, Past President of Tri-County Multi Housing Corporation and a Past Trustee of the Tri-Pac and Tri-Issues PAC, Tri County’s political action committee.

General Property Manager - Leslie Maehlum

With over fifteen years of experience in property and business management, Ms. Maehlum has spent the last seven years as a dedicated employee of Mayfield. A high energy, proactive individual, she sets goals for the properties and sees to it that they are achieved. She has overseen as many as 1,000 units at a time during her property management career. She is skilled and experienced in overseeing a wide range of communities with anywhere from 20 to 500 apartments.

Ms. Maehlum personally approves all dollars spent related to the properties, directs all apartment turnovers, and assures that Mayfield’s apartments are immaculate when the residents move in. Her strong working knowledge of building construction and maintenance helps keep costs down. Troubleshooting mechanical, plumbing, electrical, paving and structural systems is just one of her wide range of skills.

Ms. Maehlum has worked on location at over 100 different and unique multi-family communities both as an on-site manager and portfolio manager. At one of the properties owned by Stanford University located on Welch Road in Palo Alto, she managed their intern apartment housing program.

This wide spectrum of experience has provided her with extensive knowledge of a variety of buildings and what it takes to make them work well.

Oregon Operations Manager - Jim Wyland

Jim Wyland has more than thirty years of experience in commercial and residential construction management. He is a specialist in the rehabilitation and remodeling of office buildings. During his 24 years with Mayfield Companies, Jim has played an integral role in various property acquisitions, including supervision of all due diligence. Jim has managed many leasing and construction projects on time and within budget by hiring, supervising and evaluating multiple subcontractors and employees. He has personally overseen the on-site management of over 550,000 square feet of office/retail buildings and more than 1,000 apartments throughout the Portland Metro Area. In his spare time, Jim can be found exploring Oregon’s natural beauty on horseback or enjoying quality time with his six grandchildren.

Leasing Manager - Kristin Jones

Kristin Jones has been with Mayfield Management Company since 1996, learning all aspects of the Property Management business. She currently specializes in commercial leasing as one of Portland’s premier leasing agents and holds an Oregon Real Estate Broker’s License. Kristin stays very involved in the transformation process of developing an office building, producing permit drawings via Autocad and managing the permit process reducing costs significantly. She has performed accounting duties, supervised apartment staff, prepared budgets and marketed residential and commercial properties.

Kristin thrives in taking ownership of projects. She recently transformed a 70,000 sq. ft. single tenant building into a multi-tenant building, worked with clients and brokers to create their new spaces, and negotiated leases resulting in a fully occupied building one year ahead of schedule.

Kristin loves working with a tenant to find creative solutions to their space needs. Her favorite project was to design a complex space plan for a 22,000 sq. ft. tenant. Kristin’s attentive customer service skills and creative problem solving has resulted in satisfied tenants and a positive landlord–tenant relationship.

A California native, Kristin graduated from Chico State University with a B.A. in Social Science. She relocated to Oregon to pursue graduate work in religious studies. In her spare time, Kristin loves to travel, decorate and spend time with friends.

Leasing Manager - Jessica Oien

Jessica Oien is a key leasing associate with Mayfield Companies. She has been responsible for leasing over 200,000 square feet of office space in the Portland Metro Area. Jessica negotiates leases with tenants, provides excellent customer service and maintains great landlord/tenant relationships. In addition, Jessica manages landlord/tenant legal issues. Jessica has performed accounting for Mayfield’s commercial properties and handled personnel administration for Mayfield’s Portland office.

Jessica joined Mayfield five years ago, after receiving her Bachelor’s degree from Lewis & Clark College, where she majored in International Affairs. Jessica is currently involved in a volunteer training program to become a CASA for underprivileged children. In her spare time, she enjoys running, skiing, and vacationing with friends and family.
